Summary | 0021771: Memory report show allocated memory and not the more useful consumption memory
Description | The memory display shows how much ram is used but not how much is allocated to applications and services. Linux will consume nearly all memory in order to quickly allocate pages. This number is not really useful because it will ALWAYS use as much as possible and leave a little behind. The more useful state is the total allocated to applications and services as a percentage of the allocated memory. So a system showing 96% used should use that 96% marker as its new 100% baseline and then show the combined total consumed memory as a percentage of that marker.
