Summary | 0001954: IP Settings allows for two interfaces to be configured in the same subnet. |
Description | Setting two or more physical interfaces within the same subnet can cause great difficulty. This is especially true if they are both plugged into the same switch or have different roles in the firewall where a violation of state will cause connectivity issues.
In the case of alises, this isn't a problem as the interface will receive for both but when using VLANs or physical interfaces this can cause problems.
We need logic to analyse the configured interfaces and warn the user that their configuration has IPs in duplicate or overlapping subnets. The interface should still allow for the misconfiguration but should warn everytime when the condition exists.
