Summary | 0001865: SSL certificates: offer in the marketplace, suggest a list of providers, or explain why not
Description | ClearCenter offers pretty much all the main services required for a typical setup. Domain names, remote backups, backup MX, etc. The main one missing is SSL certificates. Perhaps this is a choice, perhaps it's just not done yet. Ideally, we could just buy through the interface, and it would all just work nicely (installation/updates) like what we have for domain names. Otherwise, it's one more interface / supplier / thing to deal with. If offering them is not on the table, it would be nice to suggest some that respect security criteria and are known to install easily. Similar to: http://tracker.clearfoundation.com/view.php?id=1862 [^] And perhaps the referral could bring some affiliate revenue for the ClearFoundation. If this is also not on the table, it would be nice to have an explanation on http://www.clearcenter.com/support/documentation/user_guide/certificate_manager [^] as to why CC doesn't offer or even recommend providers. Thanks!

ClearCenter has a partner (OpenSRS) which allows us to offer signed SSL certificates. We do so on a per request basis. To automate the process and offer it via the Marketplace/store is possible with OpenSRS API. Estimate 2 week development time. That's an awful lot of certificates required to see a ROI given the interest we currently see in signed certs. |
