Summary | 0001185: Add control to warn that the configuration of the Certificate Manager occurs before proceeding with PPTPd
Description | When PPTP is configured and running without previously having configured the Certificate Services in the Certificate Manager the request will produce an error authenticating users through the CHAP facility of winbind. A detection mechanism should be built to flash a warning to the admin and a link to the certificate manager if pptp is being configure without having a valid certificate server. Additionally, pptpd must be restarted after the certificate manager has valid certificates for the service to work. The certificate manager should restart pptpd if it completes and pptpd is already running. The error in the log when this condition exists is as follows: Jun 13 20:00:17 prototype pppd[17198]: Winbind has declined authentication for user! Jun 13 20:00:17 prototype pppd[17198]: No logon servers Jun 13 20:00:17 prototype pppd[17198]: Peer testuser failed CHAP authentication Jun 13 20:00:17 prototype pppd[17198]: Connection terminated. Jun 13 20:00:17 prototype pppd[17198]: Exit.

Upon further review, it was a restarted winbind that cleared up the PPTP Server authentication issues. I was unable to duplicate the problem, but winbind was definitely unhappy on this particular user's system. |

It was a winbind issue. |
