Summary0001752: Deleting a user leaves repeating error nslcd messages
DescriptionIf you delete a user, from then on you get two repeating error messages in /var/log/messages:

Jun 5 20:31:39 server nslcd[27630]: [a026fa] ldap_result() failed: No such object
Jun 5 20:31:39 server nslcd[27630]: [a026fa] lookup of user cn=Nick Mail,ou=Users,ou=Accounts,dc=howitts,dc=co,dc=uk failed: No such object

This is for a user mail_nick. The message repeats at least once an hour.

I have tried restarting various services and even ClearOS but it did not help

I may have found the issue.

When running nslcd interactively I noticed the errors appeared to come from the imap_plugin - these two users I deleted were just for e-mails. Browsing the LDAP database I noticed there is a group called imap_plugin and I found these two users were still there.

Unfortunately I am a bit scared to play around with LDAP so I don't know if deleting them from the group will fix the problem. They also still seem to be members of the allusers group. This make me think it is a generic problem (not imap_plugin specific) and when deleting users the deletion routine should first remove them from any group membership.

More courage.

Removing the deleted user from imap_plugin did not help nor did just removing him from allusers. The errors only stopped when I deleted him from everywhere which in my case was from allusers, imap_plugin and domain_users for both of them and for one of them from smtp_plugin as well.
