| Description | Report from an end user: I also have severe problems making ClearOS 7 simple networking (samba) play along with my Windows PC’s on my LAN. All PC’s can see and exchange files with my ClearOS6 server, but only some user accounts/PC’s will work towards my ClearOS7 test servers (All of them will however discover the ClearOS7 servers, but throw an error when trying to connect). I thought it had to do in which order you enabled LDAP/users in the ClearOS setup process, but no. If I come up with something I will let you know. | ||||||||

I will set up a simple file share in my lab to test this. But as John mentioned, the older security models around simple file sharing are broken security-wise and may not work if SMB or CIFS1 is disabled on the workstation/PC. CIFS2 is often required with more modern machines or you have to hack to negotiate on the older protocols. |
