0007371: clearos-centos-updates contains incompatible kmod packages
clearos-centos-updates contains kmod packages which are incompatible with the ClearOS kernel (kmod-igb etc). This then blocks yum update if you have your own kmod package installed. This happens to me with kmod-igb where I use my own rpm compiled directly from ElRepo.

The solution could either be not to bring the packages into clearos-centos-updates in the first place, or add "exclude=kmod-*" to the clearos-centos-updates section of /etc/yum.repos.d/clearos-upstream.repo.

A listing of packages in clearos-centos-updates gives:
kmod-cfg80211_dup.x86_64 0.1_rh1-1.el6_6 clearos-centos-updates
kmod-igb.x86_64 5.2.15_k-1.el6_7 clearos-centos-updates
kmod-iwlwifi_dup.x86_64 0.1_rh1-1.el6_6 clearos-centos-updates
kmod-iwlwifi_dup-firmware.x86_64 0.1_rh1-1.el6_6 clearos-centos-updates
kmod-mac80211_dup.x86_64 0.1_rh1-1.el6_6 clearos-centos-updates
kmod-oracleasm.x86_64 2.0.8-6.el6_7 clearos-centos-updates

At the moment this could also affect people with WiFi NIC's

I forgot to add, see the forum thread https://www.clearos.com/clearfoundation/social/community/6-7-updates-broken-by-a-kmod-driver-package [^] for a bit more background.

Will make it part of ClearOS 6.8.

Perhaps not the right place to ask, but are kernel updates in clearos-centos-updates safe to install as well? There is one there at the moment (2.6.32-573.18.1.el6) and I suspect it does not have the ClearOS patches.

The kernel-* packages in upstream CentOS would break the bandwidth/QoS engine and kmods built for ClearOS. Other than that, a ClearOS system would run just fine on a standard CentOS kernel.

Though the upstream packages exist in the repository, the kernel-* packages are excluded via the yum configuration.
