Summary | 0020431: Add a warning to the top of the incoming firewall about usage |
Description | There appears to be quite a misunderstanding with the incoming firewall in that it only applies to external interfaces and is not required for the LAN in Gateway mode. I've recently been onto three customer systems where the Incoming Firewall has been opened up for normal LAN services where external access was not required. This has included opening NetBIOS and proxy ports - something that you'd almost never want to do and is dangerous.
Please add a message to the panel at the top of the firewall to say that rules are only needed here for people to access the server from the WAN (or internet) and that the firewall is always open to the LAN (in Gateway mode). The message could be conditional on the machine being in Gateway mode. |
